Apple & pear purée with cinnamon

This fruity recipe with a hint of spice from bestselling food writer Annabel Karmel makes an ideal first meal for your baby

* For children aged 6 months and over
* Makes 4 portions
* Suitable for freezing

What do I need?

  • 2 dessert apples
  • 2 ripe Conference pears
  • 4 tbsp pure unsweetened apple juice or water
  • A generous pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)

How do I make it?

  1. Put the fruit into a saucepan with the apple juice or water, cover and cook over a low heat until tender (about 6 to 8 minutes).
  2. Blend the fruit to a smooth purée.

Why is it good for my baby?

  • Apple and pear purée is an ideal first food, being easy to digest and unlikely to cause allergies.
  • Apple purée is also good for the relief of diarrhoea.
