Make your own memory box

Try making this colourful memory box with your child for storing cherished objects

  • Finished memory box

    What you need

    Shoe box • Glue • Bits of old fabric or paper, pictures from magazines, buttons, ribbons and anything else you would like to decorate with

  • Step 1 of memory box

    Step 1

    Cover the shoe box inside and out with wallpaper, wrapping paper, comics, silver foil or pretty fabric. You could even use newspaper as a base.

  • Step 2 of memory box

    Step 2

    Stick on words and pictures cut from magazines, or use photos, stickers, feathers, buttons, sweet wrappers, ribbons or other trimmings you have. Stick colourful envelopes inside the lid to hold tickets and invites, then put in all their goodies!


Try this! 

  • You could choose a special theme: boys’ comics, princesses, holidays or football players. 
  • Capture memories in more detail by making and keeping a picture diary, with short captions that kids can write.
