Who needs to buy birthday cards when you and your child can have great fun making these colourful cards for friends or family
Green paper • Pink paper • Yellow paper • Glue • Mini pompoms • Craft foam pads and craft punch (optional, available from craft shops)
Fold the green paper in half and, two thirds up the crease, cut a horizontal line (about 4cm long). This will form the frog’s mouth. Fold down each corner of this line to make two triangles.
Cut a short line (about 2cm wide) in the middle of the top triangle and fold down each corner of the new line to make two more triangles. These will form the frog’s eyes.
Unfold all the triangles, turn the card over and refold the triangles the other way to reinforce them. Open up the card and carefully pop out the frog’s mouth and eyes so that they stick out towards the inside of the card.
Draw a half frog outline (like the one above) onto one half of the green paper, then fold the pink paper in half and stick it behind the green. Cut round the frog shape.
Open the card up and decorate: make a crown out of yellow paper and pompoms (using the crown template), and a tongue out of a long strip of pink paper. You could also add foam flowers (using the foam pads and craft punch).
