Forget expensive fancy dress costumes — you and your child can have great fun together making this simple mask
A paper plate • Black paper or paint • Glue • White paper • Coloured pipe cleaners or fuzzy sticks • Elastic
Cover the bottom of the paper plate with glue, press on black paper and use scissors to cut around the edge — or paint it black and leave it to dry.
Stick on white eyebrows and a mouth, and a pink nose, all cut from paper or card. Cut out some holes for the eyes.
Make three holes on each side of the mouth and push through fuzzy sticks or pipe cleaners. Tape down the ends on the inside so they don’t fall out. Make two holes on each side of the mask, thread the elastic through each one and knot.
To create a cat outfit, team the mask with black leggings and a T-shirt. Make a tail by stuffing half a pair of tights with paper and attaching to the back of the leggings.
