Make your own pompom pets

Use an old ball of wool to create these cute fluffy animals — they’re fun and easy for kids to make!

  • Pompom  chicks

    What you need

    Cardboard • Wool • Scissors • Needle and thread or glue • Buttons, felt shapes, wobbly eyes or sequins

  • Step 1 of pompom pets

    Step 1

    Cut two doughnut shapes out of cardboard and place them back to back. Tie a piece of wool through the centre circle and wind it around the card.

  • Step 2 of pompom pets

    Step 2

    Keep winding the wool until the card is covered and the centre is filled. Then gently pull the pieces of card apart and cut through the wool between the card edges.

  • Step 3 of pompom pets

    Step 3

    Pass a length of wool between the two circles of card and pull it tightly together around the strands of wool. Tie in a knot.

  • Step 4 of pompom pets

    Step 4

    Remove cardboard to be left with your pompom! Sew or glue two pompoms together to make a head and body.

  • Pompom bunnies

    Step 5

    Glue on buttons, felt shapes, wobbly eyes or sequins to finish.
