"We don't agree on discipline": Part 1 (video)

Our expert helps one couple who have very different ideas about how to discipline their daughter

Max, Nina and Nikita
Published 01 April 2008

Parents can clash over how to discipline their child but there’s always a compromise. NSPCC parenting advisor Eileen Hayes MBE helps Max and Nina to restore harmony and reach an agreement on how to work together as parents to Nikita, their three-year-old daughter.

Once you've watched this video, go to Part 2 to find out how they got on.

“When our children were small, we did 'one parent, one child' days out, with each parent taking it in turns. We had a fixed budget to cover travel, admission costs and food. We’d go to the seaside, museums, leisure centres etc. The child feels special and behaves well because he's the centre of attention. You could do this by joining up with a friend too. We also love days out with the whole family.”
