Expert tips on nutritional needs in infancy

Eileen Hayes talking to concerned mum
Published 29 January 2009

It can be hard not to compare your baby with others and worry that she isn’t getting enough to eat, but it’s important to remember that all babies are individuals. NSPCC parenting advisor Eileen Hayes MBE gives reassuring advice to one concerned mum about how to make sure her friend's baby is getting the nutrition she needs.

“Remember that babies are individuals, so don’t compare their development in a competitive way. I was worried that my son still had no teeth while his peers had all theirs, but then he started walking before the other children and his first tooth popped through after that.”
